宇都宮大農学部を1996年に卒業し、理化学研究所や東京大学、化学メーカーを経て、2005年に母校に戻ってきました。これまで、生体中の生理活性物質の精製や、ウイルスの遺伝子解析、組換えウイルスや組換え生物による物質生産などを行ってきました。現在は昆虫ウイルスの増殖メカニズムについて研究しています。ウイルスは時に軍隊のように、時にスパイのように振る舞って、数日で宿主を制圧してしまいます。その過程にどんなドラマがあるのか興味が尽きません。研究には遺伝子工学や生化学の技術を用いていますが、これらの技術は昆虫ウイルスだけでなく、あらゆる生物を対象に利用できますので、研究室のOBは多様な分野で活躍されています。私たちと一緒にウイルスの不思議について明らかにしませんか?
